Job Title: Bailiff/Tribal Probation Officer

Department: Traditional Tribal Court, Justice Division

What We Are Seeking: A self-motivated professional to serve as a Bailiff, overseeing Tribal courtroom procedures, ensuring the safety of everyone. Additionally, this position serves as a Probation Officer, conducting pre and post-adjudication services including: in-custody transports, pre-sentence investigations, pre-trial services, participation in the Healing to Wellness Court and Juvenile Justice Teams, drug, and alcohol testing. Provides Jail Alternatives, ensures client accountability, compliance, and responsibility.


Qualifications, Education & Experience:

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in youth services, legal systems, social services and/or care coordination is required. Security experience is preferred. We are willing to provide training for CNV Tribal citizens.
  • High School degree or G.E.D. is required. College classes in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Behavioral Sciences, or related fields are preferred. Must be willing to attend out-of-state BIA or FLETC Training within 6 months of hire.
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and leadership skills; including the ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds; establish and maintain cooperative relationships and work successfully as a member of a team.
  • Excellent time management, problem-solving and organizational skills, with a proven ability to meet sometimes competing deadlines.
  • Superb verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to function well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn and embrace new or updated software.
  • Evening and/or weekend is required. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.

Certificates and Licenses Required: A valid Alaska Driver’s license is required for this position and the ability to be insured on CVTC’s vehicle insurance policy.


Pre-Employment Drug Screening and Background Check: This position requires you to complete and pass a pre-employment state and federal background check and drug screening as a condition of employment.
