Job Description

Are you an educator passionate about empowering students and fostering global connections? We're looking for dedicated 6th-9th grade educators in Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia to help facilitate an exciting and impactful program in Spring 2025. This is a remote, part-time role, running from January to April 2025, with a time commitment of 2-4 hours per week over the course of 10 weeks, plus attendance at a 3-day virtual training.

About the Program:

We are an innovative program that connects middle and high school students in the United States and Guatemala for collaborative, bilingual, online learning. Students team up to tackle real-world global challenges related to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, developing skills such as critical thinking, digital literacy, cross-cultural communication, and cooperation. Facilitated by trained educators, students work on project-based solutions and participate in a final reflection and celebration event.

Key Responsibilities:

Facilitate Learning: Lead a class of approximately 20 students, integrating the curriculum into your lessons. This curriculum is well-suited for Dual Language Programs, Civics, Global Studies, Social Change, and project-based learning courses.

Virtual Facilitator Training: Attend a virtual training to learn about the 10-week challenge modules, how to implement them, and gain skills in cross-cultural education, inclusive teaching strategies, and technology integration.

Collaborate with Global Educators: Work closely with a co-facilitator in Guatemala to guide your binational team through the challenge milestones, offering coaching and support.

Ongoing Support: Stay connected with program staff for ongoing communication and assistance throughout the duration of the program.

Manage Instruction and Collaboration: Oversee your team's virtual and, when applicable, in-person learning and teamwork as they work towards their solutions.

Program Timeline & Commitment:

Training: 3-day virtual workshop
Program Duration: January - April 2025
Weekly Time Commitment: 2-4 hours per week for 10 weeks
Culminating Event: Participate in a final Student Reflection and Community Celebration Event to showcase students' solutions and celebrate their achievements.

Ideal Candidate:

Passionate about project-based learning and global education
Experienced in working with middle school students (grades 6-9)
Comfortable with technology and virtual collaboration
Able to foster a culturally inclusive classroom environment
Interested in connecting students to global issues and solutions

If you're excited about the opportunity to help students engage in meaningful global challenges and develop skills for the future, we'd love to hear from you!
